Meow Wolf is an art collective and production company creating and operating immersive, interactive multimedia experiences that transport audiences of all ages to fantastical realms of storytelling. Founded in 2008 by a small group of artists, writers, musicians, and makers looking to create an egalitarian space for artistic expression, Meow Wolf’s first exhibits were created in warehouses on shoestring budgets. Since then Meow Wolf has created 25 exhibitions throughout the United States working with hundreds of artists.

The current job offering is for a position within House of Eternal Return (HoER), Meow Wolf’s flagship location (a.k.a. MW Santa Fe LLC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Meow Wolf Inc, an interdisciplinary, collaborative nexus focused around an immersive art experience combining architectural design, art, custom technology, fabrication, and digital content development.

Job Description

The Events Program Manager for the Events department will have two major focuses both around the expansion of Meow Wolf’s events business and secondary focuses around pre-existing events business and properties.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years program management experience
  • Minimum of two years experience working in events, concerts, live performances or other related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Travel

Travel to Meow Wolf exhibitions and contract install sites required.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • The first major focus
    • Ensure that venues in Meow Wolf’s new markets are opening according to schedule
  • Part of this scope focuses on the physical layer of the venue
    • Venues are specced according to the appropriate needs of the room and have fidelity to Meow Wolf’s production values
      • The Events Program Manager will work with the Events Director, Events Technical Director, and vendors to spec the room with production equipment and technical infrastructure necessary to produce shows
    • Work with creative direction to execute creative vision for these rooms
    • Work with out-of-exhibitions Project Manager to ensure a bar business that serves showgoers and drives revenue to the beverage program
    • Work with exhibitions Project Manager to ensure the room has the physical infrastructure necessary to install creative
  • The remaining scope focuses on the operational aspect of running these rooms
    • Work alongside locals to develop operational plan for staffing by using the knowledge gained from House of Eternal Return’s venue and the experience of the local’s management
    • Work with partners where applicable to put in place administrative relationship between Meow Wolf and venue landlord in the case of A15 or other partners.
  • The second major focus
    • Contract installations
      • The Events Program Manager will receive contract installations requests and make quick initial assessment to see if the project is feasible along with Events Director according to key measures such as reach, profitability, and project timing
      • After completing quick feasibility study, the contract installer will initiate the project by costing the install, reaching out to contracted creative director/art director, engaging external production companies for art production and external installers for the project installation/strike  
  • The tertiary focus of the Events Program Manager will include
    • Project manage upgrade installations at locals or temporary installations for seasonal events or special projects
    • Assist with event production for large Events projects such as Taos Vortex and Dark Palace
    • Extend Meow Wolf’s production expertise to Indigenous Pop Expo
