About this Position

Meow Wolf Santa Fe is hiring a full-time Manager on Duty (MoD). The MoD must be able to work 8-hour shifts and on occasion 9-10 hour shifts. Work is generally performed between 9am and 3am, with individual shifts ranging from 6-10 hours in length. MoDs must have a flexible schedule and be available to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Job Description

Managers on Duty (MoDs) are responsible for overseeing front desk, docent, and venue staff. When on duty, the MoD is the person ultimately responsible for the building and the people in and around it. MoDs deal with complex procedures and secure and sensitive information. MoDs are at times the most knowledgeable person in the building regarding operations. The MoD directly supervises the docent lead, front desk lead, and indirectly supervises the entire on-duty staff, during their shift.

Job Requirements

  • A flexible schedule with the ability to work days, nights, and weekends
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff
  • Demonstrated good judgment in difficult and complicated management situations
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an appropriate, dispassionate demeanor in emergencies, difficult customer interactions, and interactions with personnel
  • Experience with point of sale systems, and responsibly handling cash
  • Experience in a leadership role in a similar public-facing institution; e.g. museum, retail space, restaurant, theater
  • Experience training staff
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a positive representative of Meow Wolf management

  • Be familiar with Meow Wolf operations
  • Be bilingual or multilingual

Job Responsibilities

  • Opening the building; securing and locking the building at closing
  • Disarming and resetting alarm systems; familiarity with building alarm codes
  • Accessing safe and petty cash box
  • Accounting of change drawer and safe
  • Opening and closing registers, or supervising the front desk lead in doing so
  • Adjusting and managing daily staff schedules; including finding shift replacements and making other necessary changes
  • Directly supervising the front desk lead, docent lead, and other staff during shifts
  • Providing leadership, supervision, and support to staff
  • Training new staff and staff taking on new roles
  • Managing customer relations
  • Coordinating with the Events Coordinator/Venue MoD on show nights
  • Providing support for all activities at the Meow Wolf Arts Complex including answering customer and staff inquiries, assisting with staff performance reviews, contributing to discussions regarding operations, and other duties as assigned
  • Maintaining awareness of all events, special programs, discounts, performances, etc. happening at the Arts Complex and communicating the information to staff on duty
